Train Dialog
Dialog is a multi-LLM assistant, but like any smart system it needs the right inputs and a bit of training to shine. Here are the essentials.
1. Upload high-quality documents
Section titled “1. Upload high-quality documents”Dialog learns from what you upload. Supported formats: .docx, .txt, .csv, .md, HTML, PDF.
If you notice inconsistent answers, check whether the source document (especially PDFs with tables) is well structured. Converting tricky files to text or markdown often fixes it.
2. Write clear, concise custom guidelines
Section titled “2. Write clear, concise custom guidelines”Guidelines help Dialog reflect your brand’s voice and policies. Keep them short (10–15 max) and write them in full sentences, not bullet points, so the context is clear.
See Writing good guidelines for detail.
3. Diagnose and fix wrong answers
Section titled “3. Diagnose and fix wrong answers”When Dialog gives an incorrect or incomplete answer, identify where the issue lies:
- Missing or outdated rule → update your guidelines.
- Product-specific errors → improve product descriptions. On Shopify, you can also enrich products with the
dialog-datametafield (Shopify-only). - Missing general info → upload or update a document.
4. Keep improving
Section titled “4. Keep improving”Training is ongoing. Each wrong answer is a chance to refine Dialog’s understanding. Focus on clarity, consistency, and customer-relevant information.
